Summer Temporary Position in Passport Operations

Are you ready for a bigger task? We are now looking for staff for the passport operations for summer temporary positions for processing and issuing passports. Placement can occur in several locations within the Stockholm region. The Stockholm region consists of Stockholm and Gotland counties and has approximately 7000 employees. There are four police areas within the region: North, City, South, and Gotland.

The current location for placement in this recruitment is: Police Area Gotland, Visby. See separate ads for other placements within the Stockholm region.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an administrator within the passport operations, you have an important societal function where you are the face of the Police Authority and sometimes the citizen's first contact with the police. You are expected to take joint responsibility for the assignment and operations together with your colleagues and supervisor. The work mainly occurs through direct contact with citizens but also to some extent through phone calls and emails.

Your main tasks include receiving applications for travel documents (passports and national identity cards), processing and issuing travel documents. The work is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations such as the Passport Act, the Passport Ordinance, the Ordinance on National Identity Cards, and the Administrative Procedure Act. Please note that at the Södermalm issuing location, only travel documents are issued. We base our interactions on the state value foundation.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Swedish high school diploma or foreign high school diploma where grades have been translated and validated by UHR
  • At least 3 months of total work experience deemed relevant by the employer
  • Very good oral and written skills in Swedish
  • Good ability to express yourself well in English
  • Experience using computer programs/systems as work tools

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

  • Work experience in service with daily interaction with external actors. For example: customer service, reception, or retail
  • Experience working in public administration such as authorities, municipalities, or regions
  • Experience processing applications for travel documents within the Police Authority
  • Ongoing or completed higher education in social sciences, law, or other education deemed relevant by the employer

You work closely with citizens, and therefore high demands are placed on your communication skills. You thrive in close and direct contact with citizens to guide and answer questions. You have good judgment and adapt your working methods depending on the citizen's background and service needs. You are resilient to stress, can prioritize, and switch between different tasks. You solve tasks both individually and in collaboration with your colleagues. You adapt to changing circumstances and can quickly reprioritize your work.

We place great importance on personal characteristics.

OTHER

Scheduled working hours. Working hours are daytime Mon-Fri, except for one day a week when the shift is scheduled for evening hours. Changes in working hours may occur.

The employment will begin with a three-week training for passport handlers. Approved training is a requirement to work as a passport handler. The training takes place during regular working hours, and full attendance is required during the training weeks.

Information about leave during the employment period: If you become a candidate for employment, you do not have the right to vacation leave. Instead, you will receive vacation compensation paid after the employment ends. Shorter leave with salary deduction may be granted if the operations allow it and then according to agreement with the supervisor. There may be a possibility for continued hourly employment after the summer period.
