Region Dalarna is responsible for leading the work on sustainable regional development in Dalarna. To succeed, broad cooperation and collaboration in several areas are required. We collaborate with actors within the county, in neighboring counties, nationally, and internationally.

We are now looking for a Director of Regional Development.

Job Description

As the Director of Regional Development, you will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to the region's development, focusing on creating value for citizens and ensuring sustainable societal development.

Your responsibilities include developing and establishing a regional development strategy, coordinating efforts to implement the strategy, as well as deciding how funds for regional growth work should be used. We also want you to follow up, evaluate, and report on the results of growth work in the region.

There are also tasks related to EU's structural fund programs and establishing a county plan for transport infrastructure. We work to ensure that the county's municipalities, university, business community, and other actors collaborate on important issues that affect the county's future and development.

You will have around forty employees today, with about ten on consultancy assignments. We are organized into three units:

• Strategy and Financing
• Business Development
• Community Planning

You will have three direct reporting managers in your management team, report to the Regional Director, and be part of the Regional Director's management team.

Leadership is an important part of the assignment, as well as building good relationships with business partners and building trust in the administration in close collaboration with other regional and municipal operations.

The administration is in a period of change, where an important part of the Director of Development's assignment will be to build the organization and work for even better cooperation within the region.

The position involves a temporary appointment as director for four years with permanent employment in the core profession.

Qualifications

As a Director of Regional Development, we are looking for someone who inspires and engages others through clear visions and an inclusive leadership style. You are driven by setting direction and creating opportunities for experts and specialists to achieve their goals, without micromanaging. Your ability to build trust and create collaboration, both internally and externally, is crucial to succeed in the role.

You have an academic education, and we appreciate experience working in a politically governed organization. You have previous managerial experience and are used to coordinating various stakeholders, leading complex change processes, and delivering results in environments where dialogue and collaboration are crucial.

We are looking for someone who is an enabler and a visionary, who enjoys development and at the same time understands that long-term change requires patience.
