Hospitals in the West - Surgical Department 2

The hospitals in the west are a management within the Västra Götaland region and consist of four hospitals – Alingsås hospital, Angered local hospital, Högsbo local hospital, and Kungälv hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

About Surgical Department 2

Surgical Department 2 is a general surgical care department that is part of the Surgery and Orthopedics Unit.

In 2020, we moved into one of Sweden's most modern ward buildings. The new department has 28 beds in single rooms built so that each team of nurses, nurse assistants, paramedics, and doctors has a good working environment with modern technology that provides good conditions for carrying out safe, person-centered care together with patients and relatives.

We primarily investigate and treat patients with acute surgical diseases in the stomach and intestines, traumatic surgical injuries, and urological problems. We receive both acutely ill patients, patients coming for planned surgery, and patients in need of palliative care.

We work in teams that collaborate closely with various healthcare professionals, and the department has specialist knowledge in palliative care and mentor nurses available. We have a close collaboration with pain management teams, mobile palliative care teams, dieticians, and local healthcare teams.

New nurse or new to surgical care?

Introduction

We provide a safe and supportive onboarding for 4 weeks based on your needs. Your mentor is initially present to support you and later in the background, so that you feel safe and have the opportunity to grow into your new nursing role.

Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse, and it is advantageous but not required if you have experience in surgical and/or palliative care.
