About the Unit

Are you looking for a workplace with great variety and challenges? Our department handles over 1000 acute stroke alarms per year and subsequent investigation and rehabilitation. We work in multidisciplinary teams and aim to develop both excellence and consistent quality in the department. Here, both healthcare and employees are developed with a focus on national guidelines for stroke treatment and individual professional development. Welcome to the Stroke Unit, Department 135!

We provide highly specialized care and are responsible for the Thrombectomy mission for Västra Götaland and Norra Halland. Of Sahlgrenska University Hospital's three stroke units, we are also responsible for Thrombolysis treatment. Sahlgrenska performed 365 thrombectomies in 2023 and ranks among the absolute best units in Sweden in terms of results and time to treatment.

In the department, there are coordinators, pharmacists, and stroke bed coordinators.

Responsibilities

In the department, you will follow the patient's journey from acute alarm to investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation. We offer a varied and exciting job where one day is not like the other. We have a clear introduction for new nurses where we develop an individual plan in addition to 1 month of introduction. We have a mentorship system, and all newly graduated nurses are of course included in a clinical basic year. Here, we have a ladder where nurses have the opportunity to develop and grow in their role in a structured way where we consider each individual's conditions and strengths.

As a nurse, you work closely in a team with nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and doctors. Team-based stroke unit care improves outcomes for our patients and provides opportunities for a good exchange of knowledge within the staff.

We are looking for licensed nurses. You enjoy working together in a team and have good communication skills while being a problemsolver who wants to grow in your professional role.
