About the school

Tegnérskolan in Karlshamn is a personal independent upper secondary school with 230 students in grades 7-9 for the academic year 2024-2025. The school has new nice premises and is located in a beautiful environment in the Strömma area, close to Kreativum and Sparbanken Arena. We have a high quality of teaching and a good competence among our teachers. Here, students are challenged to build their knowledge for the future. All students should feel seen and be given the best conditions to succeed in their schoolwork.

Job responsibilities

We are now looking for a dedicated special education teacher in mathematics at 75-100% for our school in Karlshamn, who together with the school's student health team wants to develop work for increased goal fulfillment among our students. We want to strengthen our team with an additional special education teacher who wants to further the school's work to ensure that every student succeeds.

Qualifications

• You have a teaching degree and teaching certification in mathematics (possibly also in Swedish and English). Further education as a special education teacher is advantageous.
• You have experience in working with language, reading, and writing development in primary school as well as mathematics/math difficulties in primary school.
• You are confident and stable in yourself and have good social skills.
• You are well acquainted with the school's governing documents as well as the Swedish National Agency for Education's guidelines regarding work with extra adaptations, special support, and action plans.
• You are involved in student health work with a focus on preventive measures and a promoting approach.
• You are flexible in your approach to working with different students' needs to achieve the goals.
• You have a good ability to create trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.

About the position

You are proactive in health-promoting and preventive student health work and supervise both teachers and student assistants. As a special education teacher with us, you are expected to work according to the school's routines regarding documentation and follow-up related to students in need of special support. You are part of a network together with other special education teachers/special educators within the School Alliance (formerly Thorén Framtid), who meet regularly under the leadership of our process-supporting central special educator. In your role as a special education teacher, you will be assigned clear areas of responsibility in the business, involving planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching. You will work with students in need of support both individually and in groups. You will be part of our student health team, where you are expected to contribute your expertise to both students and colleagues. We are looking for someone who, together with us, wants to meet and reach students in need of support and get them interested in continuing to explore and learn. We think creatively and innovatively together to provide the best conditions for all our students to achieve as much as possible in their knowledge development.
