Your role
As a librarian in the school library, you have an educational assignment based on the city's school library plan and the school's other governing documents. This involves strengthening students' linguistic abilities and digital competence. The work includes many contacts with students and staff at the school.
Your main tasks include:
- initiating, planning, and implementing various reading-promoting activities linked to the curriculum together with teachers at the school and independently. This includes, for example, literature presentations, book discussions, and other activities to spark and strengthen students' reading enthusiasm and linguistic abilities.
- working pedagogically with media and information literacy. This includes, for example, teaching source and search criticism as well as library and internet skills. You stay updated through professional development and continuous monitoring of these areas.
- supporting students in need of adapted reading by providing audiobooks and easy-to-read media. Promoting reading in students' native languages and strengthening multilingualism is a prioritized area, as is making national minority languages visible.
- being responsible for purchasing, weeding, and other maintenance of media to create a relevant and appealing selection in the school library. The school library should offer a wide range of media and activities that contribute to education, broaden perspectives, and strengthen students' learning linked to governing documents.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- a degree in library and information science, a librarian degree, or education deemed equivalent by the employer.
- previous documented experience working in a similar role.
It is advantageous if you have experience leading groups and working with a library system.
To succeed in the role of librarian, you enjoy working with children and young people and are curious about their learning. You are proactive and have the ability to develop an active and structured school library operation in collaboration with other educational staff.
Furthermore, you have a good knowledge of current children's and youth literature and can inspire reading. You have high digital competence and can instruct and guide students and educators in the use of digital tools and information sources. You have a good ability to collaborate with both adults and children and create opportunities for them to participate in the school library's activities.
You should be able to express yourself clearly and pedagogically and adapt your approach and communication style to the recipient. You see it as a given to stay continuously updated in your area of expertise.
Great importance will be placed on personal qualities.
