About the Organization

In Haninge Municipality, we want to increase residents' participation and influence in society. For Haninge Library, this means we need to include residents of all ages in our activities.

The municipality offers public libraries in Handen, Jordbro, Västerhaninge, and a smaller library on Ornö. In Brandbergen and Vega, there are integrated public and school libraries, and the municipality's book bus visits the public and institutions in various parts of Haninge.

The libraries in Haninge are undergoing a transformation process in 2025, aiming to reach more residents through new working methods, increased accessibility, and participation.

Brandbergen is one of our multicultural million-program areas. The library is located with an entrance from the center and is directly adjacent to a K-9 school, for which we are also the school library.

As a Librarian

We want you to put the visitor at the center and, with your knowledge and creativity, contribute to shaping a service that is accessible and relevant for everyone.

Your Mission

You will work with all aspects of a public and school library. External service at the information desk. Administrative tasks daily.

You will receive school classes and maintain contact with their teachers.

To contribute to safety in our areas, collaboration with community organizations, associations, and other actors is one of the library's clear missions, and this will also be a task for you.

Together with colleagues, you will plan various programs and activities, both in the library space and in other locations in the local area, focusing on teenagers and middle-aged children. Some outreach work is included in the position.

The library has a Language Café once a week, where you may have the opportunity to develop the service together with a colleague.

The position includes work during the day, evenings, and weekends based on a schedule.

Your Qualifications

• Degree from a library school/information and library science.
• Experience working in public libraries.
• Good digital skills.
• Swedish spoken and written.
• Familiar with the Library Act and its contents.
• Understanding of working in a politically governed organization.

Your Competence

• Good reception skills and an interest in helping citizens discover the library and what it has to offer.
• You can plan and organize tasks based on your mission.
• You have a drive to see others grow through promoting reading.
• You have good social skills and enjoy working both individually and with others.
• One of our missions is to work for collaboration with associations in the area; perhaps you already have experience working on projects with various actors?
• If you understand and speak additional languages beyond Swedish and English, it is an asset.
