The Faculty of Medicine is one of the largest faculties at Umeå University and attracts many students with a comprehensive range of programs in medicine, dentistry, health, and care. We offer a well-developed research infrastructure and an inspiring, dynamic environment with leading research. Our close collaboration with the four regions in the Northern Healthcare Region is seen as a significant mutual asset for developing research and education and ensuring access to our future healthcare personnel.

The Department of Odontology consists of about 70 employees and conducts teaching in dental hygiene, dentistry, and dental technician programs, as well as dental research.

We are now seeking a dental technician instructor at 50% to join our teaching team.

Job Responsibilities

The work involves practical teaching and supervision of our dental students, as well as the preparation of demonstration and work materials for teaching. Responsibilities include assessing students' practical work, guiding students in practical tasks. Examples of tasks to supervise include waxing teeth with a focus on training in dental anatomy. Production of complete dentures, zirconia, etc. Furthermore, ensuring that materials are available for students to work with and that the equipment used in teaching is functioning. Job responsibilities may change.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who, upon appointment, has a bachelor's degree in dental technology and has good experience with modern CAD/CAM technology. Furthermore, a good ability to teach in Swedish is required.

The work is outward-facing, and we therefore seek someone with good service orientation and assume both the ability for independent planning and good collaboration in a group. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Other Desired Qualifications

Experience in removable prosthetics is desirable. Furthermore, experience in similar teaching at the university level and pedagogical training/courses in pedagogy is strongly meritorious. Good computer skills and experience working with image and video editing, as well as good knowledge of English, are also meritorious.

The position is 50% of a full-time role. Start date is September 1, 2025.
