Engineer in Electronic Warfare Against Radar Systems
FOI, the Total Defence Research Institute, is one of Europe's leading institutes for applied research in defense and security. FOI is an agency under the Ministry of Defence, tasked with conducting research, method and technology development, and investigations for total defense and in support of disarmament, non-proliferation, and international security. About the Position
In the role of engineer, you will work with technology development and applied research in the area of electronic warfare against radar systems. You will play an important role in several technically challenging projects, with great opportunities to develop your skills. The unit continuously works with complex technical systems and conducts practical tests and experiments.
Our work environment is creative, the tasks are varied, and you will have the opportunity to test and develop your own ideas and methods to solve problems. Examples of tasks include:
- Development of test systems and prototypes for experiments in the radar field
- Participation in laboratory and field trials, as well as analysis and evaluation of the performance of technical systems
- Measurement and functional verification of systems in the radar area
About the Unit
You will be part of the Electronic Warfare Against Radar Systems unit, which belongs to the Electronic Warfare department. Electronic warfare is a very important research area for the Armed Forces. It involves gaining an advantage in the use of the electromagnetic spectrum. This can be achieved by detecting and extracting information from the opponent's signals and by generating signals that disrupt the opponent's sensors.
Do you have the skills we need?
Requirements
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or technical physics, or a field that FOI assesses as equivalent
- Experience in electronics design and embedded systems
- Knowledge of hardware-near programming in e.g., C++, VHDL
- Good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish

The work is project-based, which means you need to have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in different project groups. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Meritorious
It is meritorious if you have experience in:
- Radar, microwave technology, antenna technology, or digital signal processing
- Knowledge of analog electronics
- Work in laboratory and development environments
- Development of embedded systems, real-time systems, and digital solutions

The position is a permanent employment that may begin with a six-month probationary period.
