Support Assistant for Special Service Housing in Majorna
We are all different. We are also alike and have the same right to a safe home, meaningful employment, and to feel valuable. With the right conditions, we can grow, develop, and participate in society on our own terms.
Within the administration for support for people with disabilities, we provide support, service, and care to children and adults with disabilities and create opportunities for them to live a good and independent life, just like everyone else. By spreading knowledge and collaborating within the City of Gothenburg and with other actors, we increase understanding of individual needs and design interventions that make a real difference.
With 6,200 dedicated employees, we are Sweden's largest support administration. We work within housing with special services, daily activities, employment, housing support, personal assistance, child and short-term housing, respite care, and support and guidance.
Do you want to contribute to a more inclusive society? Welcome to us!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now looking for a support assistant for our Special Service Housing in Majorna. The housing accommodates individuals with complex needs with diagnoses within the autism spectrum, neuropsychiatric, and mental disabilities. The housing is divided into apartments with shared common areas.
Your mission is to support the individual to a self-sufficient and meaningful life, both at home and outside. The work involves tasks such as pedagogical support in daily life, personal care, and common household tasks such as laundry and cooking. We actively work to create sustainable and secure relationships. The job includes delegating medication and documentation in the Treserva system. We use methods such as LAB, AAC, and clarifying pedagogy. By being a support for our users, you contribute to a meaningful everyday life.
You will collaborate with other support assistants, support pedagogues, unit managers, and other care staff. We work strategically with the follow-up of the quality of our interventions from the users' perspective. By analyzing results/outcomes, we can increase our knowledge of which interventions appear effective, and thus focus on creating added value and user benefit.
The working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, or night shifts on weekdays and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has completed the care and nursing program, the child and leisure program (with a focus on educational and social work), support assistant training through adult education, or has equivalent education that the employer deems comparable.
For the position, previous relevant experience with the target group diagnosed with autism spectrum, neuropsychiatric, and mental disabilities is required. Work experience with the methods LAB (Low Arousal Approach), AAC (Alternative Communication), and clarifying pedagogy is advantageous, as is experience with documentation.
We are looking for someone who is friendly and helpful to others even in stressful situations. You show respect for everyone you meet at work and are inviting and positive.
You have a good understanding of how individuals absorb knowledge and their different conditions. You adapt the way you convey your message to the recipient and encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement.
You have the ability to work well with others by listening, showing interest, and respect. You understand the common mission and work to make it as good as possible.
Finally, you are calm and secure in pressured and difficult situations. You can balance the demands placed on you and can make well-informed decisions despite time pressure.
