Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions

We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Social Administration of the City of Stockholm has an overarching and coordinating role for social services' individual and family care and the area of disabilities. Here, good conditions are created to meet residents in need of social services support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and knowledge-based social service, and we have a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures are offered to the city's residents, and the offerings change based on the needs of Stockholmers and the wishes of the district administrations. The work often takes place in close cooperation with other authorities, the civil society, and the business community. The Social Administration is also responsible for the city's serving and tobacco permits and conducts supervision.

Welcome to us

The Homelessness Area belongs to the Social Administration of the City of Stockholm and has nice premises at Medborgarplatsen in the heart of Södermalm, central Stockholm.

The Homelessness Area is co-located with Capio Pelarbacken, which is a healthcare center for homeless individuals, and with the city's outreach unit, all to facilitate and promote collaboration between the units. The target group for the Homelessness Area is individuals over 20 years old in the City of Stockholm who have not had contact with social services in any of the city's districts for the past two years and who, at their first contact with us, are experiencing homelessness. We are experts in homelessness!

The Adult Section consists of 15 social workers, a group leader, and a unit manager. We are an experienced group, and together we achieve results. We utilize the employees' competencies and development ideas aimed at improving the quality of the operations and contributing to achieving the goals. We are a friendly and happy group that supports each other.

Your role

The target group of the Adult Section is individuals experiencing homelessness and who have a dependency problem and/or are seeking support for domestic violence. Within the target group, it is also common to encounter various forms of mental health issues. Our mission is to investigate the right to assistance with the support of structured assessment instruments, such as ASI and FREDA, and to follow up on granted measures with a strong focus on the individual's process out of homelessness. The work is based on the legislation and the knowledge support available, and we work from an evidence-based practice, meaning we use the three sources of knowledge; the users' perspective, theoretical knowledge, and proven experience. Our goal is for the operations to be characterized by high professionalism, legally secure processing, and high accessibility. Interaction issues are central, and we actively work with MI. Support includes case reviews in the workgroup, supervision, individual case reviews, administrative support, and accessible support from the group leader and unit manager.

Working as a social worker with us means a free and flexible job, where you independently organize your workdays and are responsible for all aspects of the work: collaboration, good client contact and client interaction, legally secure processing, and administrative work. A large part of the work involves working towards set goals, making professional assessments, and best motivating clients and matching measures based on evidence for them. Constructive ideas that contribute to new work and thought processes are encouraged, and for those who wish, there are great opportunities to shape their work within the framework of our mission. To achieve our goals regarding the process out of homelessness and given our finite resources, it is required that you work actively and process-oriented in all cases.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. A requirement is also that you have current experience working with authority exercise in the adult area, preferably within the City of Stockholm. You should have good knowledge and current understanding of social services, LVM, confidentiality, and administrative laws and how these are applied in daily work. It is meritorious if you have previously worked with homeless individuals as a target group and/or with individuals with substance abuse problems and/or with individuals seeking support for domestic violence, if you have training regarding structured assessment instruments such as ASI or FREDA and have worked according to those methods, if you have MI training, and if you have experience working in Paraplyet.

In addition to your formal competencies, we will also consider the following: We are looking for someone who independently enjoys structuring and planning their work. You have the ability to handle work situations that require great flexibility and take initiative to find solutions. You have a good approach and enjoy creating good collaborations. We are also looking for someone who can communicate clearly and enjoys working towards set goals. Additionally, it is also a prerequisite that you are comfortable with some administrative work and documentation. A driver's license is meritorious. It is important that you have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal suitability. We apply individual salary setting. Please indicate your salary expectations in your application. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
