Are you one of our new lead teachers for the Special Education Group/Flex Unit?

To ensure quality education for our students, we are now seeking lead teachers for Östra School in Falu Municipality. We are looking for an engaged and results-oriented teacher for our special education group who is passionate about giving every student a strong start in their learning. You are already contributing to school development at your workplace and meet the Swedish National Agency for Education's criteria for lead teachers.

As a teacher, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction and support for students in the group/flex unit in collaboration with mentors and special educators. You will work closely with students, their guardians, and other professionals within the school to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every student can flourish and reach their full potential. There are particularly high demands on you as an educator in this group to meet students based on their current situation, both related to well-being and knowledge.

In the role of lead teacher, you are expected to continue teaching students while also developing the instruction and subject knowledge in the school. As a lead teacher, you are expected to drive the processes highlighted in the leadership declaration and those identified by research as successful working methods for developing instruction and thus the school.

The Workplace

At Östra School, we strive to develop new ideas regarding pedagogical approaches. This is done, among other things, by making research visible in daily work and by being a NOD school (formerly known as Partner School) to Dalarna University. We therefore offer teacher students practical training.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement instruction that stimulates and challenges students' abilities to increase goal achievement.
  • Through high expectations, you create a safe and inclusive learning environment focused on study peace.
  • Systematically work with students' reading, writing, and math learning.
  • Follow up and analyze students' results to adapt instruction and achieve high goal fulfillment.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with students, colleagues, and guardians.
  • In consultation with management, drive the school's systematic quality work, which involves initiating and leading pedagogical discussions/collegial learning and projects aimed at improving instruction.
  • Support/coach other teachers and participate in the introduction of newly hired teachers.
  • When the administration initiates network meetings, participate with other lead teachers and systematically document lessons learned from this work and communicate development needs with school leadership.

Qualifications

The following is required for the role:

  • Teaching degree and certification.
  • Documented experience in creating a good study environment and clear structure in instruction.
  • Ability to understand and analyze students' knowledge development and adapt instruction accordingly.
  • Confident and clear in your leadership role with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt it to individual needs and learning styles.
  • At least four years of teaching experience within the education system.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Further education in early reading and writing development or mathematics.
  • Experience working with systematic quality work and result analysis.
  • Knowledge of and experience with digital tools in instruction.
  • Experience working with students in need of special support.

Employment Conditions

The lead teacher positions are time-limited to 3 years. You will be offered a permanent position as a primary school teacher. The lead teacher assignment will be added to your basic duties as a teacher.

Start date: 2025-08-11 or by agreement.
