The Clinical Microbiology and Infection Control Unit (VO) in Lund is one of Sweden's largest microbiological laboratories. We have over 190 employees from various professional groups, and we analyze approximately 1.3 million samples annually, with a test portfolio that includes over 200 different analyses. VO Clinical Microbiology and Infection Control serves as a central medical consulting platform for the healthcare sector, providing analyses and expertise in infection diagnostics and infection control with high accessibility to all care and services within Region Skåne, both in public and private sectors. The assignment also includes some highly specialized activities for the entire southern health and medical care region. The laboratory has an academic collaboration with Skåne University Hospital (Sus), a close research partnership with Lund University, and participates in the training of biomedical analysts and doctors. Additionally, the laboratory is accredited according to ISO-15189 and environmentally certified according to ISO-14001.

In the Cultivation and Direct Detection Unit, about 55 employees work with two unit managers. Our unit is organized into different departments, such as urine diagnostics, respiratory diagnostics, and tuberculosis diagnostics. Our tuberculosis laboratory is one of five tuberculosis laboratories in Sweden, where special safety and protection regulations apply due to airborne risk class 3 infection.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We now welcome a new specialist biomedical analyst to our media production area.

As a specialist biomedical analyst, you will be part of the daily routine operations in cultivation and direct detection and actively participate in our business development. As a specialist in the substrate department, you will have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the department's processes. You will be the main contact for customer interactions and work methodically with quality assurance and continuous development of the department. In your role, you will act as the contact person for the substrate department and serve as a link to cultivation and direct detection. Additionally, you will be a mentor in your area of responsibility and contribute to strengthening the team's competence.

With us, you will perform all parts of the analysis process, from pre-analysis of samples to practical execution of examinations and post-analysis. As a specialist, you will also be responsible for development and implementation within your specialty area. We value innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. The work may include evening and weekend shifts, as our unit is staffed every day of the year.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed biomedical analyst with permission to practice in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement for the position. It is advantageous if you have completed a mentorship training and have experience in supervision.

You who apply have good analytical skills and work according to scientific principles. Furthermore, you have strong motivation, interest, and competence to initiate and drive development and diagnostic improvements. You are a good communicator and have the ability to create engagement and participation. Additionally, you are meticulous, structured, and responsible, preferably with a flexible mindset and the ability to find new solutions.
