Assistant Nurse to Geriatric Center

The Geriatric Center is a specialist clinic for patients in need of both acute and planned geriatric care and rehabilitation. A comprehensive assessment of the patient's medical, physical, psychological, and social functioning during illness is performed by a team comprising multiple professions. Diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation are conducted in inpatient and outpatient care with the patient's individual needs in focus.

The dementia team provides specialized psychogeriatric care, treatment, and rehabilitation for individuals with cognitive diseases and behavioral and psychological symptoms related to dementia (BPSD) regardless of age. The patient's care, treatment, and rehabilitation are based on the individual's needs and occur in well-functioning teams. This is primarily done through home visits to the patient in their own home or in special housing.

The catchment area includes Umeå Municipality, its surrounding municipalities, and Southern Lapland.

We are now looking for an assistant nurse for a temporary position until 2027-03-31 with a great possibility of extension. - Are you the one we are looking for?

You will receive an individually tailored onboarding from an experienced assistant nurse in the dementia team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an assistant nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.

Your responsibilities as an assistant nurse include care responsibilities together with a nurse, actions based on the patient's condition, and close collaboration with other professionals in the care team. It is expected that you maintain good contact with relatives and other caregivers. Your work contributes to safe patient care with good quality.

In our outpatient care, a clinical research study is ongoing where you, as an assistant nurse, are expected to participate after completing training through the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a degree from a nursing and care program with good knowledge and experience of individuals with cognitive diseases acquired through previous work experience.

In addition to your care competence, we see that you have good collaboration skills but can also work independently. You can listen and communicate with both patients, relatives, and colleagues at the workplace. You also have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish. As a person, you are engaged and positive. We also see that you are interested in contributing your knowledge to develop the operations within the clinic. Within the work, support and guidance for staff groups in care and nursing also occur.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

A driver's license with category B is a requirement.

As of July 1, 2023, assistant nurse is a protected professional title. This means that you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse within care and nursing. You apply for a certificate of protected professional title for assistant nurse from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you have already received this certificate, we ask that you attach the certificate to your application.
