The Department of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences educates engineering students, teacher students, and foundation year students. We are now looking for a university lecturer in physics.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include teaching, planning, and examination in physics at the technical foundation year and within teacher programs, i.e., subject teaching with a strong didactic focus for future preschool, F-3, and 4-6 teachers. Teaching in mathematics and technology, as well as supervision of subject-didactic thesis work in teacher education programs, may also be included in the job responsibilities. Teaching takes place both on campus and remotely. The place of employment is Gävle, and most of the working hours are campus-based at Högskolan i Gävle.

Qualifications

For employment as a university lecturer in physics, it is required that you have:

  • Completed a subject teacher's degree in physics or otherwise acquired competence that the employer finds equivalent,
  • Completed higher education pedagogical training of at least 10 weeks of full-time studies, or otherwise acquired knowledge that the employer finds equivalent,
  • Demonstrated pedagogical skill and can engage and inspire in teaching, and
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, considering the content and tasks of the position.

It is meritorious if you:

  • Are a PhD or have a licentiate degree with a relevant subject-didactic focus,
  • Have experience of teaching in both schools and universities, and
  • Have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English.

The assessment is primarily made with regard to pedagogical skill, and it is particularly meritorious to have good grades from teaching in physics and technology from upper secondary school and university. Great importance is placed on personal qualities such as good ability to collaborate as well as work independently and communication skills.
