Your Role

The propulsion section for concepts and simulation is one of two propulsion sections in the Aeronautics business area and consists of 15-20 engineers based in Linköping and Gothenburg. We conduct studies, analyses, and calculations on propulsion systems in our various military and civilian programs. We now have the mission to contribute our propulsion expertise to the concept studies for future combat aircraft. The studies include knowledge building, technology development, and demonstrators for manned and unmanned platforms.

As the team leader for propulsion, you will be responsible for planning, leading, and following up on the section's activities within the concept studies for future combat aircraft. You will contribute your technical knowledge in defining work packages and evaluating the results of the studies. Together with the section manager, you will ensure that we deliver according to our commitments.

The team consists of competent engineers focused on designing concepts for propulsion systems, which include air intake systems, engines, engine integration, and exhaust systems. We perform performance calculations, system modeling, flow simulations (CFD), and method and tool development.

In the concept studies, Saab collaborates with FMV, the Armed Forces, the Total Defense Research Institute, GKN Aerospace, and other industry partners. We also participate in national and international collaborative projects that contribute results to our concept studies. Therefore, in your role, you are expected to build and manage relationships with both internal interfaces and external partners, as well as participate in the dialogue regarding the content of our collaborative projects.

Your Profile

To fit the role, you have strong communication and collaboration skills as the position requires a high degree of interaction with the workgroup, other functions at Saab, and external partners. Furthermore, we see that you are structured and willing to make decisions since the work requires clear priorities and is conducted periodically with high intensity. You have a genuine interest in contributing to engagement and a positive and inclusive work environment, as we at Saab strive to be an attractive workplace for everyone.

We see that you have:

• A Master's degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, physics, or equivalent.
• Several years of relevant experience in a technology-intensive environment.
• Leadership experience.
• Documentation and communication in daily work are conducted in both Swedish and English, so you need to be fluent in both languages, spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Experience working in the aerospace or defense industry.
• Knowledge of jet engines/gas turbines and aerodynamics.
• Experience in system modeling, flow simulations, or tool development.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may involve requirements for certain citizenship.
