Laboratory Medicine, which is part of the Medical Service administration, operates laboratories at nine hospitals in Skåne, six of which provide round-the-clock service. We work in a matrix organization with line managers at the various local laboratories and process leaders with regional responsibility for defined diagnostic areas. Clinical chemistry and pharmacology is a division within Laboratory Medicine responsible for approximately 17 million analyses annually in Region Skåne. In addition to a modern and automated production platform, we also have several highly specialized laboratory units located in the hospital areas of Lund and Malmö.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a hospital chemist, you will work in a cross-functional staff group responsible for various clinical-chemical analyses at the local laboratories in hospitals throughout Skåne. You and your colleagues will work as specialists responsible for method development, production monitoring, process optimization, and system integration. The work also includes troubleshooting across entire analysis platforms with fully automated instrument parks as well as on individual analyses in close collaboration with the local laboratory staff who work operationally at the laboratories.

Your role is characterized by a high degree of independence and decision-making within your area of expertise. The work includes both routine and project-oriented tasks in collaboration with biomedical analysts and unit managers at the various laboratories. You will work with statistics/quality assurance, development projects, and verification/validation of instruments, methods, and software. Additionally, you may also participate in procurement and drive whole or parts of larger projects together with doctors, chemists, and other colleagues.

Organizationally, you belong to the Development Unit within the Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology operational area, based in Lund. Work is conducted across all locations in Skåne that have a hospital laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome applicants with a scientific or technical university degree with foundational knowledge in chemistry/biochemistry, such as chemists, biomedical scientists, or engineers, preferably with a PhD. Additionally, you should have at least five years of relevant experience in laboratory operations. Proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, is also a requirement. It is advantageous if you have experience working independently in a larger matrix organization.

We also consider it advantageous if you have knowledge and previous experience in:

  • clinical-chemical laboratories
  • laboratory-related IT technology and system integration
  • process optimization and logistics
  • improvement work
  • quality assurance of analytical methods
  • project management and project work.

As a person, we are looking for someone who is a good communicator with a technical and scientific interest, who works in a structured, meticulous, and analytical manner. You enjoy collaborating as well as working independently, are proactive, solution-oriented, and goal-directed. Personal suitability is of great importance.

In this recruitment, ongoing selection will be applied. We warmly welcome your application today. We look forward to getting to know you!
