JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Development Leader for our unit Collaboration with Civil Society. We work to support civil society within the social field in Gothenburg and to create conditions for collaboration between civil society and the City of Gothenburg. The unit is part of the department for Urban Area, Welfare, and Leisure, which works with preventive efforts regarding public health, urban planning, and local safety work.
You will be part of a working group consisting of six development leaders. We support each other with our different competencies and experiences. We work both individually with great personal responsibility and collectively to ensure that we provide equitable support to civil society and the city and to promote shared learning.
As a Development Leader, you will handle applications for association grants from civil society organizations, write background materials for decision-makers, and work with follow-up and control of disbursed grants. The unit also works with grant allocation to study associations for folk education activities. The work may involve managing large amounts of information and data about conducted activities and checking against set criteria and conditions. It also includes interpreting and analyzing financial statements.
As a Development Leader, you will also work to promote and develop collaboration between the city and civil society. This may involve creating forums for dialogue and shared learning, providing support in drafting agreements, and developing knowledge materials for different target groups.
You will work in a politically governed organization with a long tradition of providing financial grants and other support to civil society. The work includes engaging in dialogue with organizations to create relevant support structures, as well as understanding the city's conditions for collaborating with civil society. The work also involves keeping a good watch on issues related to civil society and collaboration, and being able to translate knowledge into practical work.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who are applying have a three-year university degree deemed relevant by the recruiting manager. You have good knowledge of civil society organizations and their role in democracy and participation in society. You have knowledge and experience in association issues within the social field that is considered relevant by the recruiting manager. This may include folk education, homelessness, substance abuse issues, labor integration, or safety issues.
Furthermore, you have a good understanding of the meaning of association democracy and/or knowledge of folk education. Given the unit's task to process, follow up, and control disbursed grants, we also see that you have previous work experience with similar tasks and preferably a good understanding of financial reporting.
You have a good understanding of what it means to work in a politically governed organization and good knowledge of the municipality's organization and its activities. You also have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and to speak in public.
We would like you to have worked with collaboration between the public sector and civil society organizations and have experience leading processes involving actors with different conditions. It is an advantage if you have experience working with democracy and participation issues. You need to have a strong analytical ability to effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and suggest possible solutions. You have the ability to see connections and can draw logical conclusions from limited and/or complex information.
Since the assignment involves creating conditions for collaboration between the city and civil society and contributing to participation and trust, it is important that you are collaborative, communicative, and have a good approach where you show respect and consideration for those you meet.
You are flexible and can easily adapt your working methods based on changing conditions and new information. You can quickly change your perspective and approach and see opportunities in changes.
You have a good ability to see the big picture and can place your own activities in a larger context. You show interest in and collaborate on overarching issues to create added value. You take into account different sources of information and perspectives and can adapt others' ideas to your own activities.
You seek and seize opportunities to think innovatively in work-related contexts, and this can be translated into practice and lead to improvements. You stay updated through environmental monitoring and regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your activities.
Appointment will be made after necessary decisions are made.
We warmly welcome your application!
