Deputy Head of Infrastructure Section, I 21

The Garnison Support Unit (GarnsE) currently consists of approximately 50 employees who work with long-term planning and development of the unit's operations in peace, crisis, and war. Among many other responsibilities, we are in charge of production planning, war planning, as well as environmental and infrastructure issues.

The unit is under development, and new regimental areas are being projected both in Sollefteå and Östersund.

We are now looking for a deputy head for the Infrastructure Section based in Östersund. Do you want to be part of our development journey and put your own stamp on this role? Then you might be the right person for us.

Main Responsibilities

You will assist the head of the Infrastructure Section within the framework of infrastructure. This means leading planning, implementation, follow-up, and evaluation, as well as coordinating I 21’s land area, facility, local, and construction activities in collaboration with the Local Planning Unit.

You will participate in the development work at I 21’s establishment, including the construction of two new barracks areas. As the deputy section head, you create conditions for employees by planning, leading, and following up on operations.

The position involves acquiring, maintaining, and developing infrastructure to ensure the success and efficiency of operations. You represent GarnsE in working groups and collaborate within the infrastructure area. It also includes handling and preparing the need for infrastructure within I 21’s area of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • University degree in urban planning, property, and/or infrastructure, or several years of relevant work experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Experience in managerial roles
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Driver's license at least category B (Manual)

Meritorious

  • Experience working within or in connection with the Armed Forces
  • Experience in development work and project management
  • Several years of experience working in a dynamic organization undergoing growth/development
  • Experience working in an organization with high demands on your security and confidentiality awareness
  • Knowledge of property law and environmental legislation
  • Experience leading remotely

You are driven to work both independently and in a team, and you have the ability to see and work for the whole. Furthermore, you are motivated to work in a changing environment where you effectively prioritize your and the section's tasks based on the organization's requirements and needs. A key factor for your success is that you are an initiative-taking and responsible person who can build relationships both externally and internally.   • Working hours: Mostly scheduled during daytime weekdays, but scheduled work during other times may occur
  • The position includes 3 hours of physical training per week
  • The position may involve business trips and training at other locations, and participation in exercises may result in absence and work being conducted outside of regular working hours
  • The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority
  • The position is a civilian position
  • Security clearance with background check will be conducted before employment according to the Security Protection Act
  • The position includes military placement at the unit

In 2022, the Västernorrland Regiment was re-established with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21. A new regiment with centuries-old traditions in Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the re-establishment of a regiment in Lower Norrland.

I 21 currently operates in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand and is responsible for the Lower Norrland Garrison. In Sollefteå, there is the Regimental Staff (with personnel in both Sollefteå and Östersund) and the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion. In Östersund, there is the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps. In addition, there is the Garnison Support Unit, Defense Health, and Logistics Unit operating in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand.

At the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion and the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, we train conscripted soldiers for service in the new modern infantry under our proud motto “From mountains to sea, for the defense of Lower Norrland.”
