Summer Job in Support and Care in Lerum Municipality

Lerum Municipality is known for its scenic locations with lakes and forests. The municipality has 3,200 employees and 43,000 residents but expects to grow significantly in the coming years. Lerum is only a 20-minute commute from Gothenburg and is currently facing a development-intensive period with many exciting projects underway, ranging from schools to housing. Welcome to work in Support and Care this summer!

You will work on a schedule during period 1 (weeks 26-29), period 2 (weeks 30-33), or both periods. We can offer either full-time or part-time positions. The areas you can work in are home care, support for people with disabilities, and elderly care (also known as special housing).

The shifts are scheduled for days and evenings, weekdays and weekends. The earliest a shift can start is at 6:30 AM and it ends no later than 10:30 PM. For those with previous work experience in support and care, there is an opportunity to work awake night shifts. In some areas of support for people with disabilities, there is also sleeping on-call duty, which means you sleep at the workplace.

Introduction

Before your first shift, you will be introduced by a supervisor at the workplace, where you will learn about the tasks, routines, and the needs of the users. You will also complete online training. If medication handling is part of your tasks, you will need to complete a training in medication delegation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will always start from what the user needs and contribute to their well-being, ensuring they have a valuable and secure everyday life. Examples of common tasks include:

• providing support in everyday situations, such as going for walks
• assisting with showering and toilet visits
• cleaning and laundry
• distributing medication (mainly relevant in home care and support for people with disabilities)
• healthcare tasks according to instructions and delegation from a nurse
• documentation in administrative systems

Elderly Care and Short-Term Care

In elderly care and short-term care, there are somatic and dementia departments. Here, you primarily work in a group, but independent work also occurs. Your task is to assist the care recipients with practical care work based on their needs and to organize activities such as outings and board games.

Home Care and Service Unit

In home care, you support care recipients based on their needs in their homes. You perform practical care work independently but maintain regular contact with colleagues and coordinators. Sometimes you work in pairs. In the home care service unit, you only perform service tasks, such as shopping, cleaning, and social activities like walks.

Support for People with Disabilities

Support for people with disabilities includes LSS operations, psychiatric housing, or addiction housing. You work with individuals who have intellectual, physical, neuropsychiatric, or mental disabilities. The work is performed either in the care recipient's home or at a residence. In addition to practical care work, you provide pedagogical support in everyday life, personal care, and create an active daily life based on the individual's needs and circumstances.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a person with a genuine interest in the individual. Your empathetic ability and understanding of integrity ensure that our care recipients receive a secure and valuable everyday life and a respectful approach from you. Of course, you provide good service and easily collaborate with others.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. If you have education and previous experience in care, it is an advantage. The tasks include documentation and communication with care recipients, colleagues, and other parties, which requires good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

In home care and certain areas of support for people with disabilities, a B driver's license is required, and in some cases, a license for a manual transmission vehicle.

Before an employment offer, an acceptable extract from the Police Authority's criminal record must be presented. You will order your own criminal record. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive more information in the auto-reply and a link to the police website for ordering.
