Care Assistant/Support Worker for the Emergency Department

The hospitals in the west are an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consist of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. About 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for others! The emergency department currently has about 45 employees.

We receive emergency cases in surgery, orthopedics, and internal medicine during the emergency department's opening hours from 08:00 to 21:00 every day of the week. In surgery and orthopedics, we also treat children. The emergency department has approximately 22,000 emergency visits annually. We are now looking for a care assistant/support worker who wants to be part of our team this summer. You should be stimulated by changes in pace at work and be good at prioritizing your tasks. You want to contribute to optimizing the acute care of our patients, and your perspective is characterized by care for people.

Responsibilities

Here in the emergency department, you will be part of interdisciplinary teams together with doctors and nurses in the acute care of patients with medical, surgical/orthopedic, and general medical characteristics. You will work in various positions in the emergency department, such as in triage or in a team. The work is varied, challenging, and stimulating.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained care assistant or a student in nursing/medicine. Experience in emergency care is an advantage.

If you are a student in the nursing program, you need to have completed semester 3 or semester 4 depending on the educational program.

If you are a student in the medical program, you need to have completed semester 5 or semester 6 depending on the educational program.

Knowledge in casting is an advantage. We are looking for someone who is stimulated by changes in pace at work and who is driven to work in a developing environment. Great importance is placed on personal suitability, where the ability to collaborate in a team and prioritize are important qualities, as well as being flexible.

Protected Title for Care Assistants

As of July 1, 2023, the title of care assistant is a protected title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of care assistant within healthcare and social services. The positions are summer temporary contracts. The positions involve day, evening, and weekend shifts.
