Skaraborg Hospital (SkaS) operates in several locations in Skaraborg, including Falköping, Lidköping, Mariestad, and Skövde. Description

At SkaS Skövde, the internal medicine inpatient care is concentrated in five different departments, including the acute care department (AVA), general internal medicine, hematology, lung medicine, and stroke/neurology.

The units are staffed by rounding department physicians during the day and by on-call physicians at night. On weekends, there is a backup-led round at AVA and a physician check-in with a weekend specialist on site in the other departments. There is access to medical backup 24/7 (staffed at night by a specialist in internal medicine). There is currently a great need for broad internal medicine competence within inpatient care to relieve subspecialized internal medicine competencies that should increasingly fill the role of consultant and outpatient physicians.

Responsibilities

You are expected to independently manage the internal medicine rounds in the aforementioned departments, with access to junior doctors. Proximity to subspecialized competence within each specialty is available. Weekend work with rounding in the departments occurs. Participation in the backup process can be discussed but is not a requirement.

Qualifications

Specialist competence in internal medicine. Subspecialization and research experience are advantageous.

In the event of recruitment of physicians with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
