Production Manager/Operations Manager at Svartsjö Farm

We are now looking for a new colleague for Svartsjö Farm, which is part of the Stockholm West Operations Area, located in Ekerö municipality. It is accessible from both the southern and western sides of Stockholm. About 170 employees and ten managers manage, lead, and develop the operations that accommodate approximately 270 inmates. The farm is part of the clients' daily activities during their sentence. The farm covers 400 hectares, of which 310 hectares are arable land and 90 hectares are pasture. The cultivation includes 250 hectares of grain and 60 hectares of forage crops, as well as feed crops such as wheat, oats, peas, field beans, and winter rapeseed. The farm has a breeding herd of Hereford cattle. We have about 75 calves per season and approximately 160 animals in total. The machinery is modern with GPS technology and a workshop for maintenance. The operations also include firewood production, vegetable cultivation, green space maintenance, and carpentry. There are well-equipped staff facilities with a gym and charging stations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a production manager/operations manager, you will have a central and inspiring role where you primarily are responsible for the animals together with three colleagues. During the peak season for crop cultivation, you will broaden your role and collaborate with the team on the crop cultivation side, where more colleagues are involved. The daily work is carried out by the inmates of the facility, and you will be an important role model who, with your commitment, motivates and guides them in the workplace. You will have a workforce of about 10-15 clients depending on the season. The role is both versatile and eventful, and it requires good physical fitness as the tasks are often physically demanding. Here you will have the opportunity to work hands-on and develop alongside engaged colleagues while making a real difference.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is self-assured, has stable judgment, and good collaboration skills, who has practical experience and a strong interest in leadership in animal husbandry and crop cultivation. As a production manager, you have clear and pedagogical insight into how to best introduce and guide inmates from the facility, while actively participating in the tasks yourself.

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school education or other education preferably in agriculture, farming, and animal care combined with work experience
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Driving license (B)

It is meritorious if you have:

• Work experience from a leadership role, preferably as an operations manager, barn foreman, or agricultural manager
• Experience as an animal caretaker with experience from cattle and/or dairy herds or other animal care within agriculture and equine industry
• Knowledge in insemination
• Experience with cattle, including practical calving experience
• Experience in crop cultivation
• Forklift license or other licenses such as wheel loader, brush cutter, chainsaw
