Surgical Ward 7 in Malmö is an acute care ward that treats patients in need of highly specialized surgery and nursing. Patients primarily come from the emergency department, acute care ward, and in some cases directly from the intensive care unit. We offer a friendly workplace where we care for each other, have a high ceiling, and are quick to laugh. The atmosphere on the ward is characterized by openness and tolerance, where we help each other across boundaries. Here we work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, medical secretaries, and rehabilitation staff. The ward also has a nursing leader who, together with the rest of the staff, supports complex nursing situations and ensures improvements and quality development.

We now welcome two nurses who appreciate a varied pace of work in close collaboration with other professional categories. A total of twenty patients are cared for in the ward, divided into four groups. Together with a nursing assistant, you will be responsible for about five patients; the goal is for each group to be responsible for about four patients, which is why we are now looking for new team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of nurse, you will work with both preoperative preparations and postoperative care of patients who have undergone various types of emergency surgery. Many of our patients require advanced pain relief in the form of various pain pumps. The pain unit regularly visits the ward to evaluate pain relief. Medical technical tasks such as placing a feeding tube, managing central lines, connecting HFNC, telemetry monitoring, stoma changes, and dressing changes with VAC pumps and PICCO dressings are common.

We offer a personalized introduction that extends over your first year with us, with regular follow-ups and mentorship to ensure that you, as a new nurse, feel secure in your professional practice. We invest in individual development, and together we drive the ward forward. Digital internal training occurs every other week, and regular case discussions and training sessions are held. We encourage you to shadow other units such as our outpatient clinic, endoscopy unit, emergency department, and ICU/operating room to gain a comprehensive view and a deeper understanding of what our surgical patients go through during their hospital stay. The organization offers you as a nurse training in placing midlines. You will create your own schedule, thereby having the opportunity to influence your working hours.

Region Skåne invests in increased competency development for nurses. For newly graduated nurses, there is a clinical foundation year that includes lectures, clinical skills training, and access to a mentor. Finally, further education in surgical nursing is offered with salary if there is interest.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to work within Swedish healthcare. You have language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the European Council's level scale. We consider surgical experience to be an advantage.

As a person, you are flexible, attentive, and humble towards both patients and colleagues. Furthermore, you should also have good prioritization skills and be able to make independent decisions. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
