About Us

The surgical department in Skövde is the largest department in the hospital, has the most emergency places, and primarily provides emergency care. The work is varied, and as a complement to the acute flow, we also have some planned care.

We care for patients with diseases of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract as well as surgical diseases such as malignant melanoma, breast cancer, and endocrine diseases. Patients with burns, head injuries, and fall trauma also come here. We also have a portion of patients who come in with what is called open return, which means that patients with cancer diagnoses can avoid seeking care through the emergency department.

For us, it is important to work with development and continuous improvements - all to be able to offer the best care for our patients, as well as a stimulating work environment for our employees.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of assistant nurse became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of assistant nurse in healthcare and social services.
