Job Advertisement: Nurse at the Psychiatric Clinic
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and for research and innovation to yield results.
The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland with over 400 employees. We have three general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units. The Psychiatric Clinic works for equitable care for everyone and nursing based on research and clinical experience.
We are now looking for nurses who want a combination employment between outpatient and inpatient care, sharing their working hours between Forensic Psychiatry and the Psychosis Clinic.
The Forensic Psychiatry unit in Umeå has an inpatient ward in security class 2, an outpatient clinic, and an examination unit. The forensic psychiatric ward has 17 care places but will expand to 20 care places. Forensic Psychiatry primarily receives individuals who have been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care, but also clients from the Correctional Service who need psychiatric care/assessment, as well as patients from other psychiatric services who need to be cared for in a higher security class. Within forensic psychiatry, there are chief physicians, nurses, nursing assistants/caregivers, psychologists, social workers, treatment assistants, and medical secretaries. The goal of care is to reduce recidivism by improving mental health and developing individual and stable support functions for the patient to reintegrate into society.
Work at Forensic Psychiatry is patient-centered and based on interaction and conversation. The ethical framework emphasizes respect for the equal value of all people and the right to dignified treatment, where issues of integrity and confidentiality also have their rightful place. We work together with the patient to develop an individual care plan with goals and interventions that support the patient's reintegration into society. This may include skills training, organizing structure in daily life, planning for studies or other activities.
The target group of the Psychosis Clinic consists of patients with schizophrenia and schizophrenia-like conditions aged 18 to 60 years. The clinic is divided into multiprofessional teams that work with the patient's needs at the center. Work is conducted according to a modified Case Management model. Treatment is provided both individually, in groups, and together with the patient's relatives.
We collaborate daily with various actors such as social services, primary care, the social insurance agency, and the employment service. At the clinic, we work with both reception visits, home visits, and outreach activities.
As a new employee, you will have an introduction plan based on your needs, regardless of experience and competence, as well as a supervisor.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
