Malmö parish consists of six congregations and 21 churches. There is also a cemetery administration and support functions for HR, IT, finance, communication, and property management. In total, we are about 500 employees and many volunteers and elected representatives. The Church of Sweden in Malmö is in an exciting phase of development. We are shaping the church of the future in a rapidly growing city with the country's youngest population, where about 50% of the residents are between 0–35 years old.

About the position

The assistant pastor is tasked with supporting the pastor in leading the congregation pastorally, strategically, and operationally. As an assistant pastor, you will be part of the congregation's leadership together with the pastor and another assistant pastor. The role includes leading and developing the congregational life in S:t Johannes congregation, in harmony with the congregation's instruction and in good cooperation with other congregations within the Church of Sweden Malmö.

Your main tasks are to lead the work for the congregation's engaged employees so that they are encouraged to deepen the development of worship, teaching, diaconia, and mission, to engage and inspire volunteer workers, and to be responsive to the local community and the city. A pastoral responsibility, leading worship services in our three churches, providing spiritual care, and conducting teaching as well as other priestly duties are also included in the position.

We are looking for

We are looking for you who are ordained as a priest according to the Church of Sweden's order and have worked as a priest for a few years. Documented leadership experience and leadership training are meritorious. You have a strong commitment to working with idealism.

As the congregation and parish develop, it is valuable if you have experience in leading change and have a commitment to finding new opportunities and conditions. You need to have a genuine interest in people and the ability to create good relationships at all levels. Initiative, a trustworthy and independent approach within your mandate, as well as the ability to get tasks done, are also qualities we value.
