AI Specialist for the Security Supervision Unit

IMY is on a growth and development journey in a changing environment where privacy issues are becoming increasingly important. We face new challenges and assignments – from becoming a supervisory authority for AI systems used for law enforcement to providing guidance on how the AI Regulation and the Data Protection Regulation affect each other. We contribute to sustainable digitalization, where offensive innovation is combined with strong privacy protection. Do you also want to work for a safe information society? Then you should apply for a job with us.

We are now recruiting AI specialists to the Security Supervision Unit. With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic organization with an important mission that affects all citizens in our society.

Responsibilities

As an AI specialist with us, you will work on technology and method development to strengthen our supervisory work. You will participate in the development of methods for reviewing AI systems, such as using tools to measure bias or analyze the functionality of models. You will also follow method development within the EU and adapt our work according to new guidelines or tools. A large part of your work will be to contribute technical expertise in AI and machine learning, particularly within the framework of our operational review and supervisory activities. This includes collecting, processing, and analyzing information as well as conducting risk assessments. You will handle some cases independently.

With your knowledge of AI, you will provide strategic advice to the agency's management, where you will present identified development needs and produce materials that support the agency's decision-makers. You will play a central role in developing our technical capability in forensic analysis and the necessary infrastructure for both data protection and compliance within AI. The work will take place within the unit, in collaboration with our lawyers and together with potential partners. Together with other specialists in the unit, you will also work on developing our environmental monitoring of relevant technology. The aim is to identify new risks and opportunities to create a safe implementation of AI in society and to ensure the knowledge, competence, and ability required for the agency to deliver on its mission.

You will participate in our outreach work and represent IMY in contexts that require technical expertise in AI. For example, at lectures, conferences, and meetings with AI developers, industry representatives, or other expert authorities. You will help strengthen the agency's relationships with key stakeholders in the field and ensure that we are perceived as a credible and respected voice in the review, control, and supervision of AI.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic education in computer science, AI, and/or machine learning or other experience that the employer deems equivalent. You have good expertise in AI and machine learning (e.g., system review, explainability, cybersecurity, etc.) and experience in qualified work in the field. You have relevant and up-to-date knowledge of trends and practices regarding the use and development of AI, machine learning frameworks, and computer science. You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Experience in applying legal requirements and regulations in the development process and/or in the implementation of AI or machine learning technology is an advantage. Knowledge of relevant digital regulations, data protection, market control, product certification, and/or third-party review is considered advantageous.

Your Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who has a well-developed ability to collaborate in a responsive and smooth manner. You are skilled at building and maintaining good and trusting relationships, both internally and externally, and thrive in cross-functional collaborations with various types of competencies. You have the ability to apply a broader perspective to various issues and find it easy to work both independently and in a group. You can explain technically complex solutions in a pedagogical and easily understandable way.

Your interest in technology development and your ability to absorb new technical knowledge means that you continuously develop both your own and others' competencies. With your good analytical skills, you identify relevant aspects of technological development and can draw conclusions about consequences and, based on these, propose recommendations at a strategic level.

You are structured and systematic in your work approach and have the ability to prioritize and deliver on time, even in a changing workflow. When necessary, you propose improvements and develop work methods. As a representative of the agency, you are trustworthy, clear, and adapt your communication to the audience and context. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

The Position

You will report to the unit manager for the Security Supervision Unit, which is part of one of the agency's management groups. The employment is a permanent full-time position. IMY applies a six-month probationary period. The work is based in our pleasant activity-based premises in central Stockholm, with the possibility of individual agreements on remote work. Travel in the service may occur.
