FRA is now looking for engaged and proactive Platform Engineers focused on development platforms for the Access Development Office within the Cyber Operations Department. You will belong to the Access Development Office under the Cyber Operations Department. The department has two main tasks: to help strengthen protection against qualified IT attacks from abroad on critical societal functions in Sweden, and to develop and deliver access and exploitation capabilities to the signals intelligence operations.

Responsibilities

• You will work with our Kubernetes clusters and, together with other team members, ensure that the platform meets the needs of the operations. This includes operations, troubleshooting across the stack, development, capacity planning, and optimization.
• The platform is under constant development and expansion, so there are good opportunities for skill development and trying out new technologies.
• The team processes and analyzes large amounts of data using various methods, such as AI and graph analysis, and makes the results available for use by large parts of the agency. We have close collaboration within the team and also with other parts of the organization.

The operations are subject to confidentiality, and it is important that you feel comfortable with that.

Travel may occur occasionally in the position. 

More Information:

The workplace is located near Drottningholm, about 10 minutes by bus from Brommaplan. Swedish citizenship is a requirement as employment at FRA involves placement in a security class. A prerequisite for employment is a successful security clearance with a background check. The security clearance will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act. Employment comes with an obligation to be placed in a war situation. We apply a six-month probationary period.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Practical experience in building Kubernetes clusters used in business-critical operations
• Practical experience in automation with Ansible or similar
• Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

We consider it an advantage if you have experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Academic education in computer science or systems science
• On-prem or air-gapped Kubernetes
• Management of server and network hardware
• Products such as Ceph, Cilium, RKE2
• Experience in programming languages such as Python or Go
• Building data platforms with products such as Airflow, Trino, Iceberg, Neo4j, or similar
