About us

At the oncology department at Sahlgrenska, we provide highly specialized care in general and gynecological oncology.

On ward 52, patients with breast cancer, thyroid cancer, anal cancer, gastrointestinal tumors, and unknown primary tumors are cared for. Treatments provided during hospitalization mainly include radiation, chemotherapy, and radionuclide therapy, both for curative and palliative purposes. Patients often have complex care needs, and great importance is placed on providing good care to both the patient and their relatives.

About the job

Nurses and nursing assistants work in teams with a shared responsibility for a group of patients during the work shift. We work cross-professionally and have close collaboration with various professional categories such as doctors, medical secretaries, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers.

As a nursing assistant, you will have a varied job focused on patient-centered care. Working as a nursing assistant means you are an important part of the team that works to ensure that all patients receive good and safe care.

Typical tasks for a nursing assistant with a focus on oncological care include caring for patients, taking vital signs, EKGs, blood samples, wound dressings, documenting in journal systems, and assisting with examinations.

About you

You who are applying should be a nursing assistant. As a person, you are positive, flexible, solution-oriented, responsible, and independent. We are looking for someone who is confident in their professional role, passionate about care, and enjoys both independent work and teamwork, while also being flexible and able to make decisions.

You will work closely with patients and have a good approach, understanding, and interest in people. You are good at listening and communicating with both patients and relatives and always work from a patient-centered perspective.
