DevOps Engineer (Observability) at Svenska kraftnät

Svenska kraftnät is one of the key players in the transition to sustainable energy. As a DevOps Engineer (Observability), you will be offered one of Sweden's most important IT jobs, where you will contribute to Sweden's electricity supply every day. Currently, we are about 600 people in IT and we will grow further in the coming years. This is to create the conditions for Sweden to double its electricity production and achieve climate goals by completely transitioning to fossil-free energy. To succeed, we will use the latest technology to increase the capacity of our infrastructure while also accelerating the development pace around systems, digitization, and processes.

About the Position

As a DevOps Engineer (Observability), you play a crucial role in protecting Sweden's energy supply. You are part of the IT Operations Center unit within the IT Infrastructure and Operations department. Together, you are responsible for the operation, support, and further development of the observability and monitoring platforms. These platforms enable other IT units/objects to monitor their applications and infrastructure. You also support several large development projects where monitoring is essential for new solutions to be put into operation.

You will be offered all opportunities to develop and will be involved in setting the future roadmap and strategy for the area. You will also contribute directly to ensuring technical stability and conditions for long-term development of critical technology within a community-critical operation.

Main Responsibilities:

• Further develop central observability platforms: Drive development and improvement of the systems/platforms to ensure the highest operational reliability.
• Incident management and problem-solving: In close collaboration with the 24/7 system monitoring function, analyze, resolve, and document incidents and problems.
• Act as a specialist: Be the primary contact for system-specific questions and share your expertise internally.
• Support the business: Provide important support to the business and external partners.
• Implement changes and improvements: Manage orders, maintenance, and upgrades according to Svenska kraftnät's change process.
• Document and specify technical requirements: Work with the team to ensure effective documentation and long-term management.
• Ensure IT security, high availability, and quality.

About You

To be successful in this role, we see that you are development-oriented and curious about technology. You have a knack for collaboration and are clear and communicative. We are looking for someone who is meticulous, structured, and results-oriented. You are self-driven and take initiative. We place great importance on personal qualities.

Required Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience working with observability platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, or Loki).
• At least 1 year of experience working with OpenShift or another type of Kubernetes.
• Experience working with Helm.
• Knowledge in building images in Docker/Podman.
• Experience with GitOps or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) based working methods.
• Higher education in IT or similar, or equivalent competence acquired in another way.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing.

Desirable (not mandatory) work experience includes:

• APM (Application Performance Management) products
• Prometheus/OpenTelemetry or Thanos or Mimir
• Grafana stack
