About the Department

Department 10/23 is a neurosurgical department providing highly specialized care for children and adults in the Västra Götaland region and parts of Halland. We offer 21 care beds, 3 NIMA (intermediate) beds, and 3 NUVA beds (postoperative recovery).

The department provides both elective and emergency care, treating patients with diseases of the brain and spinal cord such as tumors, hemorrhages, vascular malformations, epilepsy, and acute head injuries. Department 10/23 is part of the Neuroscience care area, which is divided into four sections: neurosurgery, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, and neurophysiology.

What Do We Offer?

Our orientation program spans four weeks, and you will have frequent check-ins with the department's section leader/mentor during your initial time. Your introduction is tailored to your experience and any needs that arise. You will have time set aside with one of our specialist nurses for delegations, as well as the opportunity to participate in a surgery.

We regularly hold lectures combined with skill-enhancing workshops in the department. There are good opportunities for internal skills development and a varied work environment as you will have the chance to work in the pre-operative admission unit, care department, and also in neurosurgical intermediate care. There is also the possibility to be introduced to postoperative monitoring when you feel ready to develop further. This variation is a valued part of the job.

We apply individual schedule planning and work two weekends out of five.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who wants to work in a team where you will be well taken care of as a new colleague. You will meet a positive group in a workplace characterized by much laughter, good atmosphere, and open communication. No day is like the other, and you will learn something new every day, regardless of previous experience.

You will have the opportunity to work and learn a broad spectrum within healthcare as the department has a varied patient group in terms of age, medical history, and background. You will care for both adult patients and children, those who are acutely ill and those who are admitted for planned procedures or treatments. As a nursing assistant, you will care for patients pre- and postoperatively and work in a team with a nurse. The job requires personal maturity and clarity in communication with patients, relatives, and colleagues.

About You

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and interested in a temporary position. You have the ability to convey calm and security, take responsibility, and have good prioritization skills. As a person, you enjoy collaborating and see the team as an important part of the work. Initiative and innovative thinking are welcomed, and if you want to engage in improvement work, there are opportunities for that. You are empathetic and have a good approach. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant is a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services.
