Postdoctoral Researcher in Biomedicine

Subject Area

The subject area for this position is Biomedicine.

Background

Responsive Nutrition (Rosetta@oru) focuses on interdisciplinary research based on an internationally leading set of validated methods and models to assess the intestinal, metabolic and mental health benefits of foods and dietary supplements, and to determine who benefits from specific dietary changes over the life course. Responsive Nutrition integrates the development and validation of this unique toolbox with applications in the areas of intestinal injury, inflammatory diseases and metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and affective and behavioral disorders, using novel experimental and interventional study designs. Our vision is that sustainably produced foods with health benefits will become consumers’ first choice.

The postdoctoral project is part of a recently granted 4-year EU project on individual interactions between dietary fiber and the intestinal ecosystem with a connection to IBS. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with the skills and experience to plan, conduct, analyze, and publish results related to gut microbiota, microbial metabolites, and clinical dietary intervention studies. It is an advantage having experience in the application of bioinformatic tools for the analysis of microbial data.

The postdoctoral position is located within the School of Medical Sciences (MV) at Örebro University, which is a modern, expansive university with around 1,600 employees and 17,000 students, and with an outstanding research activity. MV is also home to the university's medical education, and also contains a number of strong research activities whose main focus is inflammation, metabolism and nutrition. Responsive Nutrition also forms an important part of Örebro University's strategic knowledge profile around Food & Health.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree to consolidate and develop primarily their research skills.

The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in planning, executing, analyzing, and disseminating results in studies combining laboratory experiments and human dietary interventions. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting microbiota and microbiota metabolite analyses of samples collected among study participants.
