Mother Tongue Unit

The Mother Tongue Unit provides mother tongue instruction to approximately 550 students in 19 different languages. We are based at Skrantaskolan in southern Karlskoga, but your position includes teaching at several schools throughout the municipality. Study guidance is usually provided during daytime lesson hours, while mother tongue instruction takes place after regular school hours. This means working late afternoons and evenings.

We are 24 teachers and study guides working in the Mother Tongue Unit in a well-functioning and open team where we regularly meet and share experiences. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will teach the subject of mother tongue Turkish and, if necessary, provide study guidance in several subjects within the school forms of primary school, adapted primary school, upper secondary school, and adapted upper secondary school.

Your responsibilities include:

  • planning, implementing, and following up on instruction in the subject of mother tongue Turkish
  • analyzing teaching and results
  • maintaining continuous contact with guardians
  • school-wide values work
  • providing study guidance in XX as needed
  • collaborating with teaching staff regarding study guidance
  • collaborating with student health teams, school management, and external parties
  • contributing to school development
  • teamwork
  • working and documenting in the operational systems used in the municipality

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a licensed mother tongue teacher in Turkish.

In addition to having Turkish as your mother tongue, you must have a good command of the Swedish language to communicate with students, colleagues, and guardians, as well as to document what the operation requires in writing.

You have good knowledge of and a strong commitment to mother tongue instruction and want to motivate and stimulate students to increase their knowledge of their mother tongue.

To fulfill the role of study guide, you should, in addition to having good knowledge of Swedish, have a good understanding of the Swedish school system and possess strong subject knowledge.

You are a confident and clear leader in the classroom and have an easy time creating and maintaining good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You value and contribute to good collaboration by having an open, accommodating, and problem-solving approach. You are structured and have the ability to plan, organize, and analyze students' learning and your teaching structure effectively to achieve desired results.

To contribute to the continued digital development of the Mother Tongue Unit, you are expected to have good IT skills and easily adapt to various digital systems.

If you have experience working with language-developing methods or Swedish as a second language, it is an advantage.

A driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are desirable but not required.

Background Check

To work in preschool, school, and youth and leisure activities, you must, according to the law on background checks, provide a background extract from the police's criminal record. You must request the extract from the National Police Board using the form "Extract from the Criminal Record" available on the police's website.

Karlskoga municipality is part of the Finnish administrative area and thus has a responsibility to uphold the status of the Finnish language. This means, among other things, that we must offer preschool activities and elderly care in Finnish.
