Dedicated Nurse Wanted for the Infection Clinic

Are you a nurse with a genuine interest in infectious diseases and want to make a real difference? With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a varied work environment where every day brings new challenges and learning experiences. We offer you a meaningful and developing job, where you also get the chance to participate in development work at the clinic.

We are now looking for two dedicated nurses and welcome both those who are fully qualified and those who are nearing the completion of their training to send in their applications to us.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will initially work on the ward, where you will care for patients with acute medical conditions. With increased experience and competence, rotation to the outpatient clinic may become relevant. In the outpatient clinic, you will meet a diverse patient group, many of whom have diagnoses such as Hepatitis, HIV, immunodeficiency, TB, and MRSA. The outpatient clinic is a subacute unit where we also receive patients at short notice.

Your responsibilities include having overall nursing responsibility, performing sample collections, medication administration, supervision, and care of access points such as IVs, central lines, or subcutaneous ports. It also includes care of catheters, various types of drains, preparation of antibiotics in closed systems, and the use of medical equipment such as Optiflow and monitoring devices. Outpatient work also includes scheduled visits and telephone consultations.

We work in teams where you as a nurse will collaborate with other professional categories. Many of the patients we meet have complex medical conditions, which makes it especially important that we work together to provide the care the patients need.

As a new employee, you will receive an introduction tailored to your circumstances. You will receive support from mentors and regular follow-ups to feel secure in your role. With us, you will not only gain broad experience that strengthens your nursing competence but also specific knowledge in infectious diseases. After one year of employment as a general nurse within Region Västmanland, you will also have the opportunity to apply for further education as a specialist nurse, for example, in infectious diseases, with maintained salary during your studies. We also offer internal further education and encourage you to participate in the clinic's development work to continue growing in your professional role.

About the Workplace

The Infection Clinic is responsible for specialized infectious disease care in Västmanland. We are a smaller clinic consisting of a ward and a specialist outpatient clinic. The clinic is a well-functioning operation with about 80 dedicated employees, where there is a strong sense of belonging and a clear ambition to always do the best for the patient. We are well on our way to our goal - to become Sweden's best Infection Clinic.

At the clinic, one day is not like another, creating variation in the work. The work climate is characterized by helping each other across the boundaries of care and within the entire clinic, and we place great importance on good planning and clear routines. We continuously work on development and improvement efforts in all areas of the clinic's operations.

We also have collaborations and contact with other clinics and operations within the region. For example, we collaborate with the Ambulance Service within Region Västmanland to enable rotation between our clinics and involve more nurses in the future.

For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job; therefore, we offer you:

  • tailored introduction program to help you feel secure in your professional role
  • opportunities for professional development through internal training
  • a workplace for various stages of life, with flexible working hours within certain frameworks
  • free access to our fully equipped gym
  • wellness allowance of 3000 SEK/year

Since you need to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, relatives, and colleagues, good knowledge of the Swedish language is required; other language skills are an advantage.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities and see that you are a person who takes responsibility for your tasks and has the ability to plan your work effectively. A workday with us can change quickly, so you need to be able to adapt to the current circumstances while maintaining your calm and focus. In communication with others, you are clear and ensure that the person you are communicating with has understood your message. We see that you are a person who thrives in collaboration and has an empathetic and professional approach to patients, relatives, and colleagues.
