Coast Guard is looking for an officer focused on international work

The Coast Guard is a civil government preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and environmental rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. During preparedness for environmental rescue, we work preventively with environmental monitoring while promoting a sustainable marine environment. We also supervise and control fishing, customs, border, hunting, and nature conservation at sea. Additionally, we work to increase safety through maritime traffic monitoring and maintain constant readiness for search and rescue operations. Around the clock, year-round, we are present along Sweden's coast, where we protect lives and the environment, now and for the future.

Description

The Coast Guard is looking for an officer focused on international work for the Operational Department, Coast Station Unit Mitt, based in Stockholm.

The authority participates in FRONTEX cooperation and certain other operational foreign missions. The Coast Guard has a standing assignment to participate in the European Union's operational cooperation for the management of the Schengen area's external borders.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include supporting the Coast Station Unit Mitt and Coast Station Abroad in the work with foreign assignments and all related tasks. Examples of job responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in projects, e.g., regarding long-term strategy for participation in Frontex operations.
  • Prepare international meetings and manage document handling.
  • Be part of the work to select personnel for international work within the Coast Guard.
  • Be able to work for certain periods in a Frontex function abroad.
  • Support in the work with implementation plans for international operations.
  • Handle permit applications for units and technology internationally.
  • Plan working hours and foreign periods according to Frontex's annual cycle.
  • Train participants who are going on foreign missions.
  • Approve invoices and other documentation.
  • Register personnel, travel, etc., in the Opera Evo system.
  • Work with calculations and accounting of missions.
  • Understand how IT systems for foreign assignments are used.
  • Aware of the organization and administration for border management and Frontex.
  • Be familiar with exercises and how border management works.

Qualifications

As an applicant, you have a post-secondary education that the employer deems relevant for the position. You should have experience with similar job responsibilities and have also been on foreign assignments. Furthermore, you should have experience and a strong interest in personnel and financial issues and have previously worked with business development.

It is advantageous if you have experience with the Coast Guard's operational activities and its missions, as well as experience in cooperation between authorities related to the Coast Guard's operational activities. It is also advantageous to have worked as a project manager.

You are goal- and results-oriented, have good analytical and administrative skills. Furthermore, you are communicative, flexible, and driven. Other necessary qualities for the position include a very good ability to organize and structure, as well as to work independently. You need to have a high degree of integrity and be meticulous and engaged.

We expect you to have good computer skills along with a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Conditions

The position is permanent with immediate start according to agreement.

For employment, Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required.

The Coast Guard participates in foreign missions and international efforts. Therefore, the employment includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operations.
