About the Company

GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring, and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies in the Aerospace division that work with parts for aircraft engines form Engines together, and at the facility in Trollhättan, advanced parts for aircraft and rocket engines are developed and manufactured. They also work with engine maintenance.

The Performance department focuses on propulsion systems, gas turbine technology, and system knowledge of complete engine systems. Primarily, we work with engine function and performance analyses for RM12/RM16 in JAS 39 Gripen and engine concepts for the next generation of fighter jets.

Your Responsibilities

In the role of System Development Engineer, you will belong to our Performance team where you will work on developing and improving methods, tools, and programs for both certified engines and next-generation aircraft engines.

Examples of tasks in the role;

• Update methods, tools, and associated documentation
• Update our extensive library of programs and tools to a modern standard
• Testing, verification, and review of new methods, tools, and programs
• Integrate new methods into an already established system
• Streamline work processes and procedures for our analysis work

Your Profile

To succeed in this role, we see that you have;

• A Master's or engineering degree in a relevant field and several years of work experience in the area

• Understanding and experience in method or system development

• Knowledge of programming, Python or Fortran

• Proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

• Ability to collaborate with others, work in teams, and build networks

Preferred qualifications for the position:

• Experience from industry or similar operations

• Knowledge of programming (e.g., Git, C++, Java, SQL, etc.)

• Experience in reviewing and verifying software requirements

• Knowledge of jet engines/gas turbines and aerodynamics

• Interest in aircraft and aircraft engines

• Experience in system modeling or tool development

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations. For positions where GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may entail requirements for certain citizenship.
