About the role
We are looking for a passionate and ambitious soon-to-be graduate from vocational education who wants to develop and become an expert in automation, focusing on PLC and DCS. At AFRY, with us at Framtiden as a supportive employer through our talent program, you will gain the knowledge and experience needed to become a qualified Automation Engineer.
The role of Automation Engineer involves working in the energy sector, focusing on nuclear and hydropower. You will have a varied work environment, where you sometimes work directly with our clients and sometimes participate in in-house projects together with other departments at AFRY. Our assignments also extend to the paper and pulp industry.
Your main tasks include programming and commissioning PLC and DCS systems, including ABB 800xA, Siemens PCS7, ABB 800M, and Siemens TIA Portal. You will also work in systems such as Siemens HMI systems WinCC used for touch panels and operator stations.
Travel is included in the position, where you will travel within Sweden to commission automation systems, approximately twice a year, for 3-4 weeks at a time.
Your profile
To take on the role of Automation Engineer, you need to meet the requirements below. In addition, you need to have a strong interest in technical systems and programming within automation. You are analytical and enjoy solving technical problems both theoretically and practically. You are curious, learn quickly, and have a strong drive to develop in your field. It is important that you have humility and a willingness to integrate into the group to become part of the team. Even though you are new to the profession, you need to be responsible and feel confident in performing your work correctly and according to the client's and manager's wishes. Therefore, it is advantageous to have previous work experience, for example as an electrician.
Requirements
- Vocational education in automation.
- 2+ years of work experience in a practical profession.
- Previous work experience with technical systems.
- Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Driver's license B.
- Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
- Work experience as an electrician.
The Talent Program
The future talent program with AFRY aims to give you, as a recent graduate, a good start to your career at AFRY. The program will last for one year, where you will have the opportunity to combine exciting consulting assignments with training. All to help you grow as a person and develop your technical skills. You will go through the program together with people from other locations, thus building an internal network with people in the same phase.
You will have the opportunity to develop both your hard skills (e.g., technical knowledge) and soft skills (e.g., self-leadership). The program will also include joint activities and digital coffee breaks with other participants, as well as opportunities to exchange experiences with more senior colleagues within the company.

Conditions
The assignment is classified. Prior to employment, you will undergo a security review, which requires Swedish citizenship.
Start: August 18, 2025
Scope: Full-time, until further notice.
Working hours: Office hours 8-17, flexible.
Location: Varberg or Gothenburg.
Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
