About the workplace

Our unit for Process and Strategic Planning is organized under the Community Building Administration.

The unit consists of a GIS and geodata group, a group of operational developers, and a group of strategists and coordinators within strategic planning, environment, energy, and climate.

Job Responsibilities

As a GIS engineer with a focus on development, you will play a central role in our efforts to improve and optimize our GIS solutions to provide the best possible service to our residents. Your responsibilities include:

• Development and maintenance of GIS applications and databases to support the municipality's operations.
• Conducting analyses and visualizations of geographic data to support decision-making.
• Collaboration with various departments and external parties to identify needs and implement tailored solutions.
• Participating in projects and working in teams to ensure successful delivery of GIS services.
• Training colleagues and residents in the use of GIS technology and its applications.

We work extensively with open source for database management (PostgreSQL and PostGIS), for server management (Geoserver), and for web maps (Hajk). Support programs are primarily FME and QGIS. Within the municipality, there are also mapping systems such as myCarta, ESPA, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

You have a university or college education with a focus on GIS, or other education or work experience that the employer assesses as equivalent.

We consider it an advantage if you have good knowledge in:

• system environments and web GIS
• database management, especially PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
• system integrations
• mapping clients such as QGIS
• FME Form and Flow
• web development with Javascript

Personal maturity: We are looking for someone with a high degree of personal maturity, which means you have the ability to handle different situations professionally and can take responsibility for your own work.

Verbal communication: You should have good verbal communication skills, which are crucial for effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders within the municipality.

Structured: A structured work style is important to handle complex tasks and ensure that projects are completed on time and with high quality.
