The Role

The Community Planning Department is based in the city hall in central Skara.

It is a creative work environment where the historical meets the modern, and we work in an activity-based manner. Exciting and challenging planning projects are underway in Skara, with more interesting projects waiting. We are looking for someone with experience to complement our team, which currently consists of five people. We offer you a developing and varied job with significant personal responsibility. The main task of the planning unit is to develop detailed plans, comprehensive plans, strategic planning assignments, and the design of the city's various spaces. The planning department also collaborates closely with the growth and business unit responsible for land and development. In the near future, Skara Municipality will adopt a new comprehensive plan, which will lead to many exciting assignments in its new direction. The position of urban planner will be a stimulating challenge for you who want to help shape the future of Skara. You will be offered interesting and varied tasks as you will work with both detailed plans and strategic planning assignments. You will independently lead your plans as a project manager but in collaboration with colleagues in the planning unit, other departments and companies, property owners, and other authorities. Some of the detailed planning work may involve leading consultants. Therefore, we appreciate your communication skills, as the value-creating goals of detailed plans need to be clearly communicated. The position suits you who take the initiative for development and meet new challenges and conditions with a positive attitude. You are responsible and have an easy time collaborating both within your own organization and with the public. You also have good knowledge of PBL, the planning process, and plan preparation. It is also advantageous if you have good knowledge of GIS, Geosecma, AutoCAD, and InDesign.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or physical planning, or another education that the employer deems equivalent. You have good knowledge of design and urban planning and are proficient in communicating in Swedish in speech, text, and image. It is desirable that you have previous experience in detailed planning at a municipality.
