Cyber Operations in the Swedish Armed Forces

Cyber operations are as integral to modern warfare as land, sea, and air operations, making them a natural part of Sweden's national defense and interests.

The Cyber Defense Command of the Armed Forces is responsible for the cohesive military-strategic cyber situational awareness and serves as a unified entry point for incident management. The operational department acts as a hub for information sharing and advice regarding cybersecurity incidents. Furthermore, the function serves as a collaborative body between civilian and military CERT and CSIRT organizations outside the Armed Forces. The operational department of the Armed Forces is a resource for the entire Cyber Defense and is led by the Defense Staff.

In the Armed Forces, there is a strong value base that encompasses both professional development and personal health. Some of what we offer includes training, seminars, and certifications based on operational needs. We provide training during work hours for 3 hours per week and reimbursement for registration fees. A good work-life balance is important to us. We also have flexible working hours and additional parental pay during parental leave and VAB.

Main Responsibilities

You will work to lead and collaborate on incident management within the Armed Forces' IT systems. You will do this internally with input from internal and external analysts, as well as national and international information flows. In this role, you will participate in the development of cyber defense at a strategic level and collaborate with critical infrastructure.

The Cyber Defense Command of the Armed Forces is tasked with coordinating the most serious incidents directed against the Armed Forces. You will play a central role in managing incidents and coordinating IT defense units, both within the Armed Forces and with suppliers to the Armed Forces. Within the Armed Forces' cyber defense, you will be offered continuous professional development to further your role and provide you with the conditions necessary for success in your mission.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with several years of work experience in incident management. You have a relevant scientific or technical academic degree. You have a good technical understanding of IT systems and data communication. We also see that you have a strong ability to compile and present material both orally and in writing. You are fluent in both Swedish and English.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience working within the Armed Forces, preferably at a military strategic level, defense branch staff, or command units with completed HOP1 is advantageous. Experience in cyber operations is also beneficial, as well as leading technical programs or technical intelligence. Furthermore, knowledge of architecture and requirements regarding security in IT systems is desirable. We also consider knowledge of threat actors and vulnerabilities within the cyber environment as a plus.

Other Information

The position is full-time, permanent employment with a 6-month probationary period, starting date by agreement. The position is open to both civilian and military personnel at least OF2. The workplace is Stockholm.
