About us

Operation 1 and 8 is a round-the-clock open unit within the Hybrid and Intervention Operations (HyBI).

HyBI is an operation that largely conducts its activities in the Imaging and Intervention Center, BoIC. At Operation 1 and 8 Sahlgrenska, highly specialized surgery is performed in the areas of breast, endocrine, upper gastro, vascular, liver surgery, and urology. We also perform kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants, as well as advanced spine, tumor, and trauma surgery in orthopedics.

The unit has 14 operating rooms, one of which is specially equipped for trauma, and two hybrid rooms equipped with high-tech equipment with the latest imaging technology where catheter interventions, either alone or in combination with open surgery, are performed.

Our team consists of surgical nurses and nursing assistants, and teamwork is of utmost importance. We strive for good and safe care where patient safety is the focus. The unit works according to clear routines, method cards, and competence cards to create maximum security for employees in this stimulating, developing, and complex environment. The unit continuously offers internal and external training. This workplace has a large variation between elective and emergency surgery as well as the development of hybrid interventions.

About the position

As a nursing assistant in our operating department, you play an important role in the team around the patient. Your work includes preparing the patient and operating room before, during, and after surgery, and assisting the surgical nurse during the operation. The unit is currently running a project with competence time included in the schedule for the opportunity to develop professionally, one hour per week.
