Regional Laboratory Medicine

Regional laboratory medicine is part of Sahlgrenska University Hospital, area 4, and has a clear coordination mission for the entire Västra Götaland region. The organization consists of the laboratory medical activities at Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Hospitals in the west, and NU Healthcare.

Who are we?

GeBlod supplies healthcare in Gothenburg with blood components. The blood donation unit includes GeBlod Sahlgrenska, GeBlod Nordstan, GeBlod Frölunda, and a mobile unit, the Blood Bus. The Blood Bus visits Gothenburg and surrounding areas. Our operations are characterized by high quality assurance, and we are constantly faced with new challenges and demands for development. The operations are directed towards the public and their willingness to voluntarily make an important societal contribution by donating blood. Good service and a positive approach to our donors are always in focus.

What do we offer?

Your main tasks will be to perform blood donations, sampling, and apheresis donations on blood donors and to assess and make decisions regarding the donor's health declaration based on individual conversations. After completing the training in the medical English course provided by the employer, you will also be able to perform blood donations in English. You will answer medical questions and document in the unit's data system, ProSang. You will have the opportunity to participate in events and activities for recruiting blood donors.

The Blood Bus's follow vehicle departs from Sahlgrenska, and together with colleagues, you will take turns driving. We offer you a varied job and rewarding and interesting meetings with people who want to make a difference.

We care about good employee relations built on professional treatment towards both donors and colleagues in the group. By professional treatment, we mean an approach based on professional knowledge and high medical safety in our field, as well as an attitude that we are a team working together. The working hours for this position are scheduled for weekdays, Monday to Friday, day and evening shifts, and every sixth Saturday. You will rotate between the different sections of the operation together with 35 colleagues.

About you

We are looking for a licensed nurse. A B driver's license is a requirement. You need to be quality-conscious, meticulous, and enjoy a job that involves changing tempos. You inspire trust and view other people with interest and goodwill. Furthermore, we see that you enjoy working both in a team and independently. With us, it is important that you, as an employee, feel involved, take initiative, and engage in developing the operation together. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Meet some of our employees - Sahlgrenska University Hospital

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulator Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
