Within the area of special educational support, we work to ensure that our special educational support creates conditions for all children, students, and adult learners with disabilities to access an equitable education and other quality activities in a safe environment. We complement the municipalities' and schools' own special educational resources. The support we offer can relate to individual learning, educators' work, or operations and organization.
The Resource Center Department has resource centers for students who:
- are deafblind
- have visual impairments or blindness
- have visual impairments or blindness with additional disabilities
- are deaf or have hearing impairments with intellectual disabilities
- have severe speech disorders
We conduct special educational investigations as part of the agency's support. The investigation addresses educational questions and provides well-founded recommendations regarding the needs necessary for an accessible learning environment.
The Resource Center Department is part of the special educational support within the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools. The department consists of four national resource center units, of which the Resource Center for the Visually Impaired is one unit. The Resource Center for the Visually Impaired provides national special educational support in the area of visual impairment or blindness to school authorities, principals, teachers, and educational staff. We complement the municipalities' and schools' own special educational resources. The support we offer can relate to individual learning, educators' work, or operations and organization.
The unit currently has approximately 40 employees, most of whom are based in Stockholm. We also have employees located in Örebro, Gothenburg, Växjö, and Linköping. The work is conducted nationally, which means that travel across the country is included in the position.
We are now looking for two psychologists for the Resource Center for the Visually Impaired, based in Stockholm.
Currently, five psychologists are working at the Resource Center for the Visually Impaired in Stockholm. The psychologists at the Resource Center Department receive regular group supervision. Knowledge exchange with a Nordic network for psychologists working with children and youth in the field of visual impairment occurs regularly. We offer you a varied and stimulating job.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The agency's support should be preventive and promotional to achieve a long-term and sustainable result. The special educational support should facilitate for the principal, preschools, and schools to provide an equitable education according to the requirements of the Education Act across all school forms. Each request is unique in its own way, and you, in dialogue with colleagues and the manager, will have great opportunities to influence the design of the support provided.
As a psychologist, you will perform your work in line with what the Health and Medical Services Act prescribes. At the same time, you contribute psychological expertise to special educational questions that may be both specific, general, and complex. In your role, you will primarily work with special educational investigations together with special educators. The investigation addresses educational questions and provides well-founded recommendations regarding the needs necessary for an accessible learning environment. Other tasks include support to preschools and schools, as well as conducting various training initiatives. As a psychologist, you will participate in development work within the agency and be part of various national and international networks. QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who:
- is a licensed psychologist
- has experience working as a psychologist
- has experience with assessments of children and students
- is proficient in the commonly used psychological testing methods for children and youth aged 0-20 years
- has a good ability to use the Swedish language in speech and writing
- has a good ability to handle IT-based tools
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience working with children and students with visual impairments or blindness
- experience working with children and students with autism
- experience assessing children at various developmental levels with limited abilities in language and communication
- experience with children and students with intellectual disabilities in combination with other disabilities
Your personal qualities:

A probationary period of 6 months applies.
