GIS Engineer at the County Administrative Board of Skåne

The County Administrative Board of Skåne is a government authority at the regional level responsible for state administration in the county. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county based on regional conditions. Within our assignments, we provide advice, permits, and supervision, as well as plans and strategies. We manage natural areas and distribute financial support. We collaborate with stakeholders throughout the county.

We have approximately 600 employees and offices in Malmö and Kristianstad.

Description

The County Administrative Board is now seeking a GIS Engineer for the Nature Assessment Unit within the Department of Nature and Water.

The position is based at our office in Kristianstad. This is a temporary position until December 31, 2025, with a start date of April 15 or by agreement.

The Nature Assessment Unit consists of 20 employees who work with assessments and supervision according to Chapters 7 and 8 of the Environmental Code; biotope protection, shore protection, nature reserves, national parks, Natura 2000, and species protection, as well as consultations according to Chapter 12 of the Environmental Code. We also monitor species and area protection in other matters handled by the County Administrative Board. We strive for efficient and legally secure processing to achieve sustainable community development with great consideration for our regional environmental quality goals. The unit also has a special responsibility for shore protection in the county.

Responsibilities

You will complete the government assignment regarding the digitization of shore protection boundaries in accordance with national guidelines and be responsible for the maintenance and updating of the layer after it has been delivered to the Land Survey Authority. The position will also involve a significant amount of national work where you will act as a specialist within the common GIS support of the counties and the management object Nature. Additional GIS-related tasks may occur.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree as a GIS Engineer, or another relevant education combined with work experience in GIS work. You need to have experience with ESRI software and the GIS environments of the County Administrative Boards. You should have knowledge of shore protection and be familiar with reading decisions according to the Environmental Code and interpreting detailed plans. You should also have insight into other area protections according to Chapter 7 of the Environmental Code and the County Administrative Boards' work for the protection and management of species and nature.

As a GIS Engineer with us, you will take great responsibility for your own work, so it is important that you enjoy working independently. You will also work with others, so you need to have good collaboration skills. You are meticulous and methodical and can be flexible when needed. You are proactive, see solutions, and complete the improvement opportunities you identify. You need to be able to see both the big picture and the details. Efficiency and legal security are guiding principles within the unit.

Security Classification

The County Administrative Board has an important coordinating role during societal disturbances, and therefore we have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Some of our positions are security classified and may also involve a military placement at the authority, which means that a security clearance must be conducted before a hiring decision is made. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
