About the role

In this role, you will be employed by Serkon but work as a consultant for the company's clients. As a controller at Serkon, you will have an exciting and varied role where you work as a consultant for different municipal clients. You may have longer assignments, where Serkon acts as a finance department and works with financial management at a strategic level, or shorter assignments, where Serkon covers temporary needs such as parental leave or organizational changes. Regardless of the assignment, your role is to ensure a stable and effective delivery to Serkon's clients through analysis, budgeting, and advisory.

You will closely collaborate with managers and other functions within the client's organization and support them in financial decisions. The role therefore requires both analytical sharpness and a consultative approach, where you can adapt to different operations' needs and work proactively to drive improvements.

Your tasks include:

- Financial analysis – reviewing reports, key figures, and identifying trends

- Budgeting and forecasting – preparing and following up on budgets and future forecasts

- Financial follow-up – analysis of revenues and costs to identify areas for improvement

- Reporting – producing financial reports and presentations for management and decision-makers

- Cost control and efficiency – ensuring that the operation works cost-effectively

- Internal control and compliance – ensuring that the client adheres to laws, regulations, and internal procedures

- Collaboration with various departments – supporting the operation with financial expertise

The role requires a good understanding of municipal finance, including accounting principles and legislation such as the Municipal Accounting and Reporting Act (LKBR) and guidelines from the Council for Municipal Accounting (RKR).

Depending on the assignment, you may work within:

- Technical operations – financial management and budgeting in areas such as infrastructure, water, waste, asset, and investment accounting

- Educational operations – financial management and budgeting in schools and preschools

- Care and welfare – financial management and budgeting in social services and LSS

- Central finance – financial management and budgeting in areas such as the municipal executive, procurement, finance department

About you

Since the role involves working as a consultant for municipal operations, it is important that you are flexible and can quickly adapt to new work environments and systems.

You are solution-oriented and enjoy working in an environment where you can combine strategic thinking with operational work. Furthermore, you are communicative and pedagogical, which allows you to present financial information clearly and understandably to individuals without a financial background. Meeting deadlines and working meticulously is a given for you, and you maintain a professional attitude in all your interactions with clients and colleagues.

We are looking for someone who has:

- An academic degree in finance (e.g., business economist or equivalent)

- At least 5 years of experience as a controller in municipal operations or at least 10 years of experience as a controller without specific municipal background, but with solid financial competence

- Experience in budgeting, follow-up, and forecasting as well as analysis at the operational level

- Very good knowledge of Excel and experience with various financial systems (e.g., UNIT4 – ERP, Raindance, Visma, or Hypergene)

- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner while meeting deadlines

- Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written

- A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle

Other information

Location: Vellinge or Malmö. Serkon has offices in Vellinge, Malmö, Helsingborg, and Växjö.

Scope: Full-time, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with flexibility options.
