About the department

Department 14 specializes in highly specialized reconstructive plastic surgery. The aim of reconstructive plastic surgery is to restore tissue and/or function after cancer, trauma, and congenital malformations, as well as for gender-affirming purposes.

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty that is not limited to a specific organ or tissue. The indications are often psychosocial in nature, aiming to restore the patient to as normal an appearance or function as possible given the circumstances. For example, we treat burns both conservatively and surgically, restore breasts in patients who have had breast cancer, and perform gender-affirming surgery on patients with gender dysphoria.

Job responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will have a varied, exciting, and responsible job where you will work with patients undergoing reconstructive plastic surgery. Almost all our surgeries are planned, and you will receive patients preoperatively, prepare them for surgery, and then take care of them postoperatively. You will provide good and safe care to our patients and lead the nursing work on the ward.

We work in teams around our larger diagnostic groups, where you will have the opportunity to help develop and improve care for patients together with engaged colleagues.

About you

You should be a licensed nurse, and experience in surgical care is an advantage. We prefer that you have a flexible and independent working style.

If you plan to specialize in the long term, our ambition is to have more nurses with specialist competence over time. We would like you to choose a surgical focus to further contribute to improving the quality of care we provide. If you have other plans regarding specialization, we can provide you with a solid foundation for all types of further education within healthcare.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
