The municipality of Gällivare is undergoing a significant societal transformation, which means exciting development for the community and the school. We are relocating communities, building new schools, repairing others, and a new multi-arena and new housing will be ready in the near future. For several years, we have been working on school structure to consolidate the upper secondary school into one school.

Hedskolan is a pleasant F-6 school and adapted primary school with approximately 500 students, located in a residential area close to the center. The proximity to both the forest and ski trails is evident and is frequently used by students and teachers in teaching and during breaks. We develop our work through pedagogical conversations and collegial learning and see it as a strength to be able to help each other to dare to be curious about new ways of working.

Hedskolan is now looking for two teaching assistants for the adapted primary school!

Job Responsibilities

As a teaching assistant in the adapted primary school, you are responsible for supporting students during the school day based on the individually established goals and plans. You assist and provide care to the student in the activities that take place both in school and during leisure time in close collaboration with educators and the student's guardians. You are positive, create engagement and participation. As a person, you are flexible, attentive, and create good relationships.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a high school education or other education that the employer deems equivalent. If you have experience working with youth with intellectual disabilities, NPF, or work as a teaching assistant – preferably in an adapted primary school – it is an advantage. As a person, you should have a present and attentive approach to students' varying needs, be a clear leader, and have good collaboration skills. You are independent, responsible, and have an easy time taking your own initiatives. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Upon employment, a criminal record check is required.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
