The opportunity

In this role you will be part of the Technology & Solutions Development (Business R&D) organization in HVDC, Hitachi Energy, Ludvika, Sweden. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is an enabler for renewable energy integration, supporting future energy transition for a sustainable future.

We are looking for an R&D Engineer to drive innovation and solution development in the HVDC C&P System Solutions IT/OT Infrastructure Team. You will collaborate with dynamic global technology teams with niche competencies and cutting-edge technology of HVDC.

How you´ll make an impact

• You will identify, test and develop configurations for various IT/OT infrastructure devices, and associated Operating system/firmware, required for deployment of HVDC Control and Protection systems.
• The application areas are: IT/OT hardware like Servers, Network switches, Operator Workstations etc.
• Implementation of relevant Cyber Security standards e.g. CIS, TCP/IP networking, Active Directory.
• You will work with our latest HVDC technology and solutions, in collaboration with colleagues located worldwide.

Your background

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• Relevant experience as IT/OT Infrastructure engineer, AC/DC C&P power system knowledge and user experience.
• Knowledge of Virtualization, VMWare ESXi and other hypervisors, including setting up virtual machines on host servers.
• Ability to work well in a team and deliver towards common goals, with attention to details and accuracy.
• Knowledge of HVDC technology or the MACH™ system will be an added advantage.
• You contribute with a strong problem-solving mindset and endurance to deliver and document high-quality technical solutions.
• Proficiency in English, both verbal and written is required. Skills in Swedish language will be of added value.
