Senior Graphics Engineer

Are you the missing link between artistic vision and technical execution? If so, we want to hear from you.

Your Role:

As a Senior Graphics Engineer, you’ll be the critical connection between art direction and engineering, ensuring stunning visuals don’t come at the cost of performance. You’ll analyze the game’s performance, collaborate with artists and developers, and implement scalable solutions that keep our game running smoothly across all devices—from high-end hardware to low-end mobile devices.

Your expertise will help determine the best implementation methods, whether through Unity DOTS, GPU optimizations, or other cutting-edge techniques. You’ll work closely with our core team to achieve the best possible balance between visuals and performance.

Beyond optimization, you’ll support our artists by developing graphics tools and features that streamline their workflow while maintaining excellent performance, particularly on low-end devices—an essential factor given our young target audience.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Performance Profiling: Analyze game performance and memory usage using Unity and native profiling tools.
  • Optimization & Scalability: Identify performance bottlenecks and implement improvements that work across a range of devices.
  • Crash & ANR Investigations: Diagnose and resolve crashes and application-not-responsive (ANR) events in the live game.
  • Rendering & Tool Development: Work on rendering solutions, optimization strategies, and tools that enhance the development pipeline.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside artists to create efficient art workflows and ensure the best possible balance between visuals and performance.
  • Technical Decision-Making: Assess and integrate third-party frameworks and libraries where necessary.
  • Full Development Cycle Participation: Be involved in all stages, from initial design to deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

What You Bring:

Must-Haves:

  • Strong mathematical background, particularly in linear algebra.
  • Extensive experience in low-level performance profiling and optimization in Unity.
  • Deep understanding of CPU architecture and tile-based GPU operations.
  • Hands-on experience with HLSL, Shader Graph, Unity3D, and C# for graphics programming.
  • Familiarity with Unity’s Job System and Burst compiler.
  • Experience working with both native and managed languages.
  • Comfortable with distributed development (Git, CI/CD, pipelines, etc.).
  • A history of working as the bridge between art and engineering in a similar role.
  • Expertise in ensuring scalability across different devices.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • A solid grasp of CPU cache hierarchies and micro-architecture and how they impact performance.
  • Experience with Backtrace, Android Vitals, or similar live game analysis tools.

Please send in your questions or application before the 11th of April to info@melioraconsulting.se (no personal letter is needed). Please note that we might fill the position before the end date.
